Virtually a Landscape

OVERVIEW OF DESIGN PROCESS

Landsmiths work only with the country's top landscape architects and designers. Our most important goal is to work in accordance with your individual needs to evaluate, plan, and design landscape for your property using the highest principles of landscape design to provide you with a landscape that is pleasing to the eye, easy to maintainand adds value to your property.

SURVEY

Where the site plan does not include sufficient information about things such as:

  • the position of various important features such as retaining walls,
  • the air conditioning units or swimming pool pump sheds,
  • major plants (feature trees); andl the contour lines of the driveway

CONCEPT PLAN

As part of the design phase we:

  1. Meet with you to discuss the site and your preferences.
  2. Discuss the design process.
  3. Present a conceptual landscape design.
  4. Produce a landscape design concept plan.

Our concept plan typically shows the layout of gardens, with access to the decks, garage, pools and ponds, planting areas and terraces. This conceptual design stage includes the lay-out of all gardens, lawns, pavement areas, specimen plants and relevant notes. The plan also gives material proposals for paving or tiles.

WORKING DRAWINGS

Landsmiths can prepare working drawings and consent applications for any landscape structure, be it a swimming pool, a new deck or garage or a renovation.

PLANTING PLAN

The planting plan provides location and spacing of plants. A plant schedule is provided and shows plant variety, special features, gradeand quantity.

In most cases our plants come direct from the grower and this means we supply quality plants to you at affordable prices.

LIGHTING PLAN

The lighting plan is normally designed in conjunction with the planting plan. The type and position of feature plants dictate the position and type of garden lights. Many light fittings are in the market place. We can advise on the best products to suit your application.

IMPLEMENTATION/PROJECT MANAGEMENT

In most circumstances Landsmiths carry out implementation of your landscape ourselves under a contract proposal. This next step is easy. Simply pay the necessary deposit, sign our standard contract, and away we go.

VIRTUALLY A LANDSCAPE

Once your design is complete, we can offer you a virtual walk through of your new landscape before it’s built. Our design process is usually fully computerised and this means that we can email designs to you, offer you a 3D Finish Preview or provide you with web access to the latest design updates!
